Winter Break
Argonne Laboratory will be closed beginning December 20, 2024, at 5:00 pm CST until January 2, 2025 at 7:00 am CST. The CNM suspends user operations during this closure; neither the CNM building nor CNM staff, including administrative support, is available to users at any time during the winter break.
The winter break will be followed immediately by a preventive maintenance period for the week of January 4–12, 2025. During this period some capabilities may be unavailable at times and the servicing of some infrastructure systems may affect operations. More information will be sent to the user community as the date nears.
Maintenance Periods
The CNM remains open to you during maintenance periods; however, certain capabilities may not be available and some utilities may not be operating at normal conditions. Please confirm with your CNM Scientific Contact whether your capability will be affected and plan your work visits accordingly.
We schedule three maintenance periods each year, lasting about one week each, to perform preventive maintenance on scientific instruments, their support equipment and building infrastructure systems. This helps us avoid unplanned shutdowns so your experience at CNM is smooth and productive from start to finish.
2025 Maintenance Periods
- January 4-12, 2025
- May 3-11, 2025
- September 6-14, 2025
